FOGERTY also recorded his classic “Lodi” with his sons Shane and Tyler Fogerty at Abbey Road Studios in London.

As FOGERTY explains in a cover story in the current (January/February) “Legends” issue of American Songwriter: “I encouraged each of these artists to come up with their own vision of my song, rather than just redoing what I’d recorded in the past. I was hoping they’d have some different twist so it would be fresh, so I’d have to work, too. I wanted it to be something new.”

WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE marks FOGERTY‘s ninth studio solo album since disbanding Creedence Clearwater Revival.  Mixed by Bob Clearmountain, it was recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville except for “Proud Mary which was recorded in New Orleans with AllenToussaint and the Rebirth Brass Band.  FOGERTY recorded “Fortunate Son” with Foo Fighters at their 606 studio using “the” legendary Neve recording console featured in the #1 iTunes documentary Sound City. FOGERTY has performed with the Sound City Players, the all-star band assembled by Dave Grohl to play the music created for the film and other classics, at recent shows at both the Sundance Film Festival and the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

The Shadowboxers release ‘Red Room’ on January 22nd!

The Shadowboxers’ Red Room Available
on January 22, 2013
National tour with The Indigo Girls
begins on February 20th

Red Room, the first full-length album by Atlanta-based band The Shadowboxers reveals a remarkably accomplished young band equally adept at three-part harmonies, deep gut grooves and sophisticated songcrafting.  Produced by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Brady Blade (Dave Matthews, Citizen Cope, Emmylou Harris), Red Room will be released on RCAM Records on January 22nd (distributed by Vanguard Records/Welk Music Group).

The founding members—Nashville native Scott Schwartz (guitar, vocals), Iowan Adam Hoffman (guitar, vocals) and New Yorker Matt Lipkins (vocals, keyboards)—have been making music together since their sophomore years at Atlanta’s Emory University. They forged a musical approach out of a shared reverence for the sacred texts of rock and soul, from the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel to Stevie Wonder and D’Angelo. “We pride ourselves on having a current and relevant sound, but there’s also a noticeable classic-roots groove element,” says Schwartz.

Soon after graduating from Emory in 2011, The Shadowboxers went on a cross-country tour with The Indigo Girls as their opening act and their backing band. The Shadowboxers relationship with the Indigos paved the way to their meeting with Blade, who’d played on four of the Girls albums.

The Band will be touring with the Indigo Girls – opening and as the Girls’ backing band – beginning February 20th (tour dates below). On January 30th, The Shadowboxers will perform a special hometown show at Terminal West in Atlanta to celebrate the release of Red Room. Photo Credit: Scott Newton

Chris Isaak, currently in the midst of an international tour behind his critically acclaimed album Beyond The Sun, will make a special stop in New York City to perform in the 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 22nd.  This iconic American artist—“one of the great pop voices of modern times,” according to the Austin American Statesman—is an inspired choice to star in the nationally televised event, a beloved tradition marking the beginning of the holiday season in the U.S.

Isaak is part of a diverse all-star lineup riding the Ocean Spray “Woodland Family Gathering” float. The lavishly appointed float will lead the parade as it heads southward from 77th Street and Central Park West to Columbus Circle, turning east onto Central Park South and following a new path via Sixth Avenue/Avenue of the Americas to Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street, where Isaak will perform. More than 3.5 million people will gather along the parade route, while 50 million-plus will watch the festivities on television. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in all time zones.

Isaak’s parade performance will take place three days after the November 19th release of CHRIS ISAAK LIVE! BEYOND THE SUN, a special live concert DVD and Blu-Ray package on Vanguard Records. Recorded February 13th at the Moody Theater in Austin, TX before a live studio audience, this stunning performance showcases Isaak’s powerful voice and disarming personality, as he and his superb band Silvertone power through signature hits like “Wicked Game,” “Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing” and “Somebody’s Crying.” These originals are rolled out alongside classic songs from Beyond The Sun—a personal tribute to the glory days of Sun Studio producer Sam Phillips and the music created by Isaak’s heroes (Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and others) in that legendary Memphis studio.

The Living Sisters’ new release ‘Run For Cover’ Coming January 8th!

The Living Sisters
To release standards EP
Run for Cover
On January 8, 2013

New recording follows their critically acclaimed 2010 album
Love to Live

October 31, 2012 —  L.A.-based indie supergroup The Living Sisters —Inara George (The Bird and the Bee), Becky Stark (Lavender Diamond), Eleni Mandell and newest ‘sister’ Alex Lilly — have followed up their critically adored 2010 album Love to Live with the standards collection Run for Cover. The six song EP, with its intricate retro harmonies and righteously old-school instrumentation from the likes of drummer Don Heffington (Lone Justice, The Jayhawks) and pedal steel master Greg Leisz, provides listeners with some perspective as to the various sources of The Living Sisters’ zesty musical recipe, which “weave[s] together ’40s pop vocalizing, ’50s doo-wop, jazz, folk and country elements in a seamless mélange,” according to the L.A. Times’ Randy Lewis.

The six selections on Run for Cover range from a sublime a cappella take on Dolly Parton’s folk classic “Jolene” to a wildly imaginative reinterpretation of Funkadelic’s “Can You Get To That?” The harmony-laden EP, which also contains covers of songs associated with Jo Stafford “Make Love to Me” and Doris Day “Que Sera, Sera,” features two songs made famous by Patsy Cline “A Poor Man’s Roses (Or a Rich Man’s Gold)” and “Sweet Dreams.” In 2011, The Living Sisters hosted ‘A Tribute to Patsy Cline’ at Los Angeles’ Disney Hall as part of the L.A. Philharmonic Songbook Series. Run for Cover was produced by the group and Sheldon Gomberg, the same team that helmed Love to Live.

Run for Cover is the latest in a string of accomplishments for these all-stars, who have been collaborating off and on since 2006 while conducting their respective individual careers. Mandell’s sultry voice and inventive songs have made her a modern-day L.A. treasure, and she has once again captivated the critics with her latest LP, 2012’s I Can See the Future. Stark’s mix of pop and chamber music in Lavender Diamond has been described as “effortless [and] timeless-sounding.” As The Bird and The Bee, George and her partner Greg Kurstin have built a cult following with their heady fusion of jazz, pop and tropicalia. And singer/multi-instrumentalist Alex Lilly’s band Touché has been cited as “scintillating pop music that tickles and rolls all over the flesh with a blend of beats and guitar and keys that feels fresh and new.”

Run for Cover will be available on January 8th, 2013.  Click here to listen to the first single “Can You Get To That?”

Ain’t In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm To Be Released In Theaters In 2013

IN 2013

October 29, 2012 – Kino Lorber announced today the acquisition of all North American distribution rights to the documentary AIN’T IN IT FOR MY HEALTH: A FILM ABOUT LEVON HELM, an in-depth and intimate look at music legend Levon Helm, who died of cancer in April 2012.

This announcement comes on the heels of the recent “Love for Levon” tribute concert in New Jersey earlier this month where nearly 20,000 Helm fans packed the Izod Arena to hear musicians including Roger Waters, Gregg Allman, Mavis Staples, Joe Walsh, Lucinda Williams, and many others celebrate the legacy of the much beloved founding member of The Band who died earlier this year.

Kino Lorber is planning to release the film in theaters across North America in early 2013, followed by a VOD and home video release set for the summer along with other digital and television distribution.

Levon Helm was in the middle of an intensively creative period in the years just before his death. In addition to establishing the Midnight Ramble concert series as a must-see music experience, Helm’s Dirt Farmer (Vanguard/Dirt Farmer Music) earned the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album in February of 2008, and in November of that same year, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him among The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. In 2010, his follow up album Electric Dirt, also won a Grammy Award in the inaugural category of ‘Best Americana Album.’ In 2011, his live album Ramble at the Ryman was nominated for the Grammy in the same category – and won.

Director Jacob Hatley’s intimate documentary finds Mr. Helm at home in Woodstock, NY, in the midst of creating his first studio album in 25 years. Shot during the course of two-plus years, this highly anticipated film focuses in on the four-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member after his 2007 comeback album, Dirt Farmer, brought him back to the spotlight.

While this period was artistically productive, AIN’T IN IT FOR MY HEALTH: A FILM ABOUT LEVON HELM also shows Helm dealing with the burdens of renewed celebrity, continuing financial obligation and returning health problems.  The man known worldwide for his soulful voice, (as well as his singular and unparalleled drumming and multi-instrumental skills), permitted a camera crew inside his home to show the world an intimate side of his art and life.

Of the film, longtime Helm collaborator and musical director Larry Campbell says, “Jacob was the perfect fly on the wall for many months as we experienced the ups and downs of a wonderful time in all our lives. The result is a rare, artful, and honest glimpse into the fascinating world of one of our true American treasures, Levon Helm.”

The deal was negotiated between Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and Stephen Brower, Senior VP of the Welk Music Group/Sugar Hill Records/Vanguard Records.

Mr. Lorber commented: “It was a privilege to meet Levon at one of his last Midnight Rambles and verify personally how insightfully this music-packed film captured the generosity of spirit, the humanity and the immense talent of one of America’s greatest musical artists. We see this as a mission now to be able to open the film, and Levon’s life, to legions of fans, followers and new audiences, who will be thrilled to discover the scope and depth of his contribution.”

John Fogerty rocks Canada! New album ‘Wrote a Song for Everyone’ out in early 2013

“Like the blues legends he admires, Fogerty realizes the importance of essentials: a gritty voice, uncluttered guitar lines and songs that reduce rock to its bare bones… he’s truly a rock and roll alchemist who burned – and continues to burn – with the keening intensity of a welding torch.”  – Victoria Times Colonist

Beginning with two sold-out shows in Newfoundland on September 7 & 8th to the closing night in Victoria, BC on September 29th, JOHN FOGERTY rocked his way through Canada night after night solidifying his stature as a rock and roll icon and songwriter extraordinaire.  Over the course of 16 sold-out shows, Canadian fans were treated to unforgettable nights of music as the groundbreaking singer, songwriter and guitarist performed to capacity crowds with his “phenomenal vocals and killer guitar riffs” (Edmonton Journal) plus a special production created just for these shows. See more critical quotes below.

FOGERTY, one of rock’s most important artists and a national treasure who’s sold over 100 million records is now back in the studio finishing his much-anticipated album  Wrote a Song for Everyone. It’s a celebration of his revered songbook (classics and deep tracks) and some brand new songs to be released on Vanguard Records, his first for the label, in early 2013. It will feature collaborations with Foo Fighters, Bob Seger, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, My Morning Jacket, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Dawes and more.  Visit for updates.

Here are more quotes from critics about the shows:

“Elvis Presley may have been the king of rock ‘n’ roll, but John Fogerty is surely the sultan of songwriters. A night with Fogerty reminds us just how much his music has been a soundtrack to our lives. He has been there with us from high school dances to weddings, divorces, grimy bars and the radio of every single car that has taken us there. Thanks to his distinct voice and the questions his songs ask, the encouragement they deliver and the words of warning they resound, there’s no denying John Fogerty has left an indelible mark on the face of music. He proved that Thursday night with one terrific song after another…. Winnipeg Free Press

Fogerty and his five-piece band had put on a two hour show showing off stellar musicianship, lush lighting, sweet video clips and special effects suited to each song.  Fogerty was fabulous.  We were a lucky audience who got to see this living legend  perform – still at the top of his game.” – Prince George Free Press

“Fogerty, a rock legend and icon, made his first appearance in Regina on Friday night and the sold out crowd at the Brandt Centre couldn’t have asked for a more magical evening.  Taking to the stage in jeans and his trademark flannel shirt — on this night it was blue — Fogerty and his five-man band powered their way through 31 songs over two hours and 15 minutes.  Many artists don’t even have enough original material to play for that long but Fogerty not only has the material, he has great material.” – Regina Leader Post

“John Fogerty may never have played Winnipeg prior to 2007, but the iconic swamp rocker has made up for lost time, performing at the MTS Centre last night for the third time in five years before nearly 10,000 adoring fans. Bedecked in his trademark flannel shirt and jeans, the 67-year old still looked and sounded half his age as he growled out the screaming vocal lines and pumped out the guitar riffs.  The high tech splash, which included flashpots, dry ice, confetti cannons, jumbotrons and multi-media video screens, helped enhance the majesty of Fogerty’s impressive 4 ½-decade back catalogue of songs and seemed totally appropriate.” –

“Fogerty hits grand slam with Halifax crowd” – The Chronicle Herald
